In August 2024, the Manufacturing Quality and Licensing (MQL) Team extended the timeframe for completing audit reviews. This adjustment will continue throughout the current financial year (1 July 2025 to 30 June 2026). During this period, the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) will aim to complete 90% of audits within 4 months of receiving the required information.
The initial extension was introduced to prioritise key areas, including training new staff members and revision of the Australian Code of Good Manufacturing Practice for Veterinary Chemical Products.
The continued extension will enable the MQL Team to:
- Enhance overall performance
- Finalise the review of the Australian GMP Code
- Refine audit-related work instructions
- Support broader agency process improvements
- Manage APVMA structural changes
These efforts are expected to deliver ongoing enhancements to service quality into the future.
From 1 July 2026, the APVMA will revert to its original target of completing 90% of audits within 3 months of receiving the information.
The MQL Team understands that some audits may need to be prioritised. Any priority requests should be directed to the Assistant Director in MQL for consideration where capacity allows.
