Material Safety Data Sheets
A Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for each farm chemical product is generally available free of charge at the point of sale. If a sheet is not available, contact the manufacturer of the product and notify the state authority responsible for occupational health and safety.
The MSDS describes the chemical and physical properties of a material and provides advice on safe handling and use of the material. In Australia chemical manufacturers and importers must produce an MSDS for any chemical that is a hazardous substance and make it freely available to workers handling the substance.
The Australian Safety and Compensation Council publishes a National Code of Practice for the Preparation of Material Safety Data Sheets (external website).
