Fees and Levies
Annual fee for registered products
An annual fee of $390 is payable by 30 June to maintain product registration for the next financial year.
Annual Fees are permitted under the Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals Code Act 1994. The rate is prescribed under the Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals Code Regulations 1995.
Levies charged on registered product sales
Registrants are required to pay levies based on the dollar value of sales (disposals) on their registered products. A levy is payable on all sales for each product greater than $5,000.
Each year registrants receive a Notice of Levy Assessment detailling the levy payable for each product, and are required to provide the APVMA with the dollar value of sales by completing a Request for Declaration of Leviable Values.
The APVMA commissions independent audits of these declarations checking reported sales against company financial records, to ensure they are accurate.

Levies are imposed under the Agricultural and Veterinary Chemical Products Levy Imposition (General) Act 1994, the Agricultural and Veterinary Chemical Products Levy Imposition (Excise) Act 1994, and the Agricultural and Veterinary Chemical Products Levy Imposition (Customs) Act 1994.
Levies are collected under the Agricultural and Veterinary Chemical Products (Collection of Levies) Act 1994. Levy rates are prescribed in the Act’s Regulations.
