Changes to herbicide mode of action groupings mean label changes are required for some herbicide products.
Recent changes to the Label Approval Process are; the requirement for labels to be submitted electronically, and introduction of single label approval for various pack sizes. The changes, summarised below, are reflected in the label approval processes for agricultural products (Volume 5 MORAG) and veterinary products (Volume 5 MORAG).
Effective from 1 January 2007, applicants are required to submit the marketed product label (MPL) for final label approval in electronic format.
Labels must be provided in Portable Document Format (PDF) and sent to the APVMA either by email to or posted to the APVMA on compact disc. The APVMA will only accept MPLs printed on paper, in exceptional circumstances.
These changes to label submission requirements were announced in the APVMA Gazette in June and December 2006.

The APVMA has amended the Label Approval Process to allow applicants to submit a single marketed product label (MPL) that can be approved and used for a range of pack sizes.
The label for each range of pack sizes must be identical in wording, instructions, format and size, and may only differ in the net contents statement.
