Crystal Violet Review
Status: Review Completed
The APVMA (formerly the NRA) reviewed the use of crystal violet because of concerns over its demonstrated carcinogenicity and the possible risk to public health.
The APVMA completed the Special Review of Crystal Violet in September 1994 but did not publish a final report. The APVMA recommended withdrawing the Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) for crystal violet and canceling the registration of all related products. Read a full history of the review.
