Azinphos-ethyl

Azinphos-ethyl is an organophosphorus compound, formerly used in Australia as a non-systemic agricultural insecticide and acaricide on a wide range of crops.

There are currently no products containing azinphos-ethyl registered for use in Australia.

Azinphos-ethyl Review

In December 1997 the APVMA (formerly the NRA) began the review of azinphos-ethyl.

Two registrants of insecticide products containing azinphos-ethyl voluntarily withdrew the registration of their products before completion of the review.

The APVMA did not continue with the review as it was not likely to be completed before the cancellation of the products. The APVMA withdrew the Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) for azinphos-ethyl on 30 June 1999.

The APVMA’s concerns with azinphos-ethyl still remain and will reactivate the review should a registrant seek to register an azinphos-ethyl product or have an active constituent approved in the future.
