Updates to questions about recent changes to APVMA legislation

The APVMA is continuously updating the frequently asked questions about the recent legislative changes in line with enquiries we have received from registrants.  These changes cover labels, trade issues, approved persons, permits and minor product variations.

In the last two weeks the following frequently asked questions about labels have been updated:

  • Can I change my MPL without needing approval?
  • What sorts of label content may be considered contrary to the RLPs?

APVMA's Position Statement on Vaccination of Cats and Dogs updated

The APVMA has updated its position statement on the vaccination of cats and dogs to reflect recent developments and knowledge, including:

  • Further information about the concerns held by members of the public about re-vaccination intervals
  • Clarification of the reporting of adverse experiences to the APVMA
  • The ongoing debate about annual re-vaccination, especially in cats at high risk of feline herpesvirus and feline calicivirus

Proposed registration of the new active polydimethylsiloxane in the product Aquatain AMF Liquid Mosquito Film

The APVMA is considering an application for the registration of the new active polydimethylsiloxane in the product Aquatain AMF Liquid Mosquito Film. The APVMA invites comment on whether the application for registration should be granted until 28 September 2010.

Proposed registration of the new active S-abscisic acid in the product ProTone SG Plant Growth Regulator Soluble Granule

The APVMA is considering an application for the registration of the new active S-abscisic acid in the product ProTone SG Plant Growth Regulator Soluble Granule.The APVMA invites comment on whether the application for registration should be granted until 28 September 2010.

Trade Advice Notice on triallate in the product Nufarm Avadex Xtra Selective Herbicide

The APVMA is considering an application to vary the use of the existing registered product, Nufarm Avadex Xtra Selective Herbicide containing the existing active constituent, triallate (APVMA Product number 56598). The APVMA invites comment on the trade implications of varying the registration until 30 September 2010.

Trade Advice Notice on prohexadione-calcium in the product Nufarm Regalis Plant Growth Regulator

The APVMA is considering an application to vary the use of the existing registered product, Nufarm Regalis Plant Growth Regulator containing the existing active constituent, prohexadione-calcium (APVMA Product number 61570). The APVMA invites comment on the trade implications of varying the registration until 30 September 2010.

AERP request for 2010 annual summaries (Periodic Summary Updates)

Product registrants are reminded that, in accordance with the Guidelines for the Adverse Experience Reporting Program for veterinary medicines (AERP Vet) and agricultural chemicals (AERP Ag), they are requested to provide the APVMA with an annual summary of all suspected adverse experiences. This summary should be submitted by the close of business 30 September 2010.

New compulsory recall notices

The APVMA has published a list of compulsory recall notices for 2010, where companies have been required to undertake specific action in relation to supply and disposal of agricultural or veterinary chemical products.

Updated list of approved active constituents

The record for approved active constituents was updated on 7 September 2010.
