Determining pest management needs for Asian vegetables, Herbs and Spices - Workshops occurring over May, June and July.

Queensland Fruit & Vegetable Growers (QFVG) in conjunction with the Central Queensland University, the Australian Herb and Spice Industry Association (AHSIA), the Rural Industries Research & Development Corporation (RIRDC) and Horticulture Australia Ltd (HAL) are holding a series of workshops for growers of Asian vegetables, Herbs and Spices to identify the pests that are bugging them.

Workshops have already been conducted in Brisbane (2nd April) and Cairns (23 April) 2004.

Further workshops are scheduled for:


SA - Virginia Research Station 28 May
NT - Darwin 4 June
NSW - 11 June
WA - Perth 17 & 18 June
Tas - 30 June (Hobart) & 1 July (Launcestern)
Vic - Melbourne 2 July

The purpose of the workshops is to develop a prioritised stock take of the major insects, diseases, weeds and other pests affecting Asian vegetables, herbs and spices and to identify the currently accepted methods for managing these pests, as well as the needs for chemical and non-chemical management.
