Use of Pesticides for Minor Uses in Grains Project (ACA)

Staff of APVMA met with the ACA Project Team on 15th December 2004, to discuss objectives of a GRDC funded initiative to build on identifying and managing access to a broad range of pest management solutions for the Australian grains industry.

The Use of Pesticides for Minor Use in Grains Project (ACA) will:
· Re-assess the chemical needs and views of growers, manufacturers, advisers, peak bodies, regulators and other co-operators
· Identify critical minor use pesticide needs and requirements, and
· Prioritise chemical usage areas of greatest need and importance.

The project team plan to canvass the views of manufacturers, advisors, peak bodies, regulators, growers and other co-operators to identify critical pest problems, minor use chemical needs and determine regulator requirements prior to establishing priorities for future projects.

As part of this process ACA currently want feedback from grain industry value chain participants, on what industry see as the current critical pest management gaps and/or minor use chemical needs. Industry input is therefore essential if their conclusions are to accurately reflect the views and needs of the grains industry.

ACA have established an interactive web site http:www.grdc.com.au/projects/minoruses/ which is now being developed to gather input data and provide feedback on all aspects of the project , including a ‘GRAINS MINOR USE PROJECT REQUEST FORM’ that can be accessed online or further details may be obtained by contacting ACA Project Team members:
