Determining pest management needs for Asian vegetables, Herbs and Spices - Workshops occurring over April, May and June.

Queensland Fruit & Vegetable Growers (QFVG) in conjunction with the Central Queensland University, the Australian Herb and Spice Industry Association (AHSIA), the Rural Industries Research & Development Corporation (RIRDC) and Horticulture Australia Ltd (HAL) are holding a series of workshops for growers of Asian vegetables, Herbs and Spices to identify the pests that are bugging them.

The first workshop was held in Brisbane on the 2nd April and the next one, for growers in far north Queensland, will be held in the DPI offices at 21 Redden Street, Cairns on Friday 23 April 2004, from 1-4 pm.

The purpose of the workshops is to develop a prioritised stock take of the major insects, diseases, weeds and other pests affecting Asian vegetables, herbs and spices and to identify the currently accepted methods for managing these pests, as well as the needs for chemical and non-chemical management.

Subsequent workshops are being organised in NSW, Vic, SA, WA & NT over May and June (dates yet to be finalised).
