Material Safety Data Sheets

A MSDS for each farm chemical product is generally available free of charge at the point of sale. If a sheet is not available, contact the manufacturer of the product and notify the state authority responsible for occupational health and safety.

The Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) describes the chemical and physical properties of a material and provides advice on safe handling and use of the material. In Australia chemical manufacturers and importers must produce an MSDS for any chemical that is a hazardous substance and make it freely available to workers handling the substance.

The Australian Safety and Compensation Council publishes a National Code of Practice for the Preparation of Material Safety Data Sheets.
