Introduction of new Manufacturing Principles and the Australian Code of Good Manufacturing Practice for Veterinary Chemical Products.
The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) has determined, in accordance with subsection 23 (1) of the Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals Act 1994, that Veterinary Chemical Products (Manufacturing Principles) Determination No 2 of 2006 be observed in the manufacture of veterinary chemical products. This determination commences on 1 May 2007. Current GMP requirements will continue to apply until 1 May 2007.
Following consultation with the veterinary chemical industry and the wider community, the APVMA has also released the Australian Code of Good Manufacturing Practice for Veterinary Chemical Products. Details of APVMA considerations, including the process of industry consultation are described in the Regulation Impact Statement.
All three documents can be accessed on the APVMA website (http://www.apvma.gov.au/qa/mls.shtml).
