NOTICE

Exemption for the purposes of Sections 75 and 78 of the Agvet Codes

Liquefied Petroleum Gas (“LPG”) is an agricultural chemical product as defined in the Agvet Codes when used to produce carbon dioxide by combustion in devices designed to attract capture mosquitoes or other biting insects for the purpose of destroying them.

The APVMA has granted an exemption for the purposes of sections 75 (1) (b) and 78 (1) (b) of the Agvet Codes for LPG when used to produce carbon dioxide by combustion in devises designed to attract and capture mosquitoes or other biting insects for the purposes of destroying them.

This means that even though these products are “agricultural chemical products” under the Agvet Codes, it is not an offence to possess them for the purposes of supply or to supply them.

This exemption may be cancelled at any time by the APVMA.

The reason for granting this temporary exemption is to allow the APVMA time to progress reservation under Part 2B of the Agvet Codes when LPG is used in this manner.
