Phenothiazine

Phenothiazine is a pesticide and antihelminthic. It is sometimes used in pharmaceutical manufacturing of psychiatric drugs.

There are no products containing phenothiazine currently registered for use in Australia.

The APVMA began a Special Review of Phenothiazine because of concerns over the lack of toxicological and residues data on which Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) could be established.

The APVMA completed the Special Review of Phenothiazine in 30 October 1996 but did not publish a final report due to the small number of registrants involved. In the report the APVMA recommended cancelling the registrations of phenothiazine products (Olsson’s Wormolas Block, CCD Formula 18 and Clifton’s Kill-Worm) effective from 31 December 1996.
