Agricultural and veterinary chemicals nominated for review by the APVMA have been given a rank order of priority according to level of concern that led to the chemical being nominated. The priority given to chemicals is based on advice received from APVMA’s external advisory agencies: the Australian Government Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts and the Office of Chemical Safety, as well as from the APVMA’s own residue chemists. Chemicals that have been prioritised for review are listed in the Priority Candidate Review List (PCRL).
The key areas of concern that have resulted in the chemicals being placed on the PCRL are shown in brackets after the chemical name:
E - indicates environmental concerns,
HH - indicates human health concerns (public health and/or occupational health & safety)
R indicates residues and trade concerns.
The PCRL provides an indication of the chemicals with the highest level of concern; however, it does not necessarily mean that chemicals will be reviewed in strict order of priority.
