Dr Eva Bennet-Jenkins was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the APVMA on 1 January 2008 by the Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the Hon. Tony Burke MP.

Dr Bennet-Jenkins had been acting CEO of the APVMA since 1 June 2007. Her appointment as CEO iis on a full-time basis for a period of five years.

Dr Bennet-Jenkins has worked at the APVMA for 11 years in various positions in the Veterinary Medicines Program, the former Registration Customer Service Section and was also Program Manager of the Chemical Review Program. Her most recent position was Program Manager, Pesticides, a position she has held since January 2004.

She has a doctorate in biochemistry (focussing on parasites of cattle and sheep) and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She spent 13 years Australian National University as a lecturer and in research in the areas of biochemistry, zoology and molecular biology.

Dr Bennet-Jenkins has represented the APVMA at a number of national and international forums and has been very active at the OECD Working Group on Pesticides, and associated steering groups.
