Accountability and Reporting
The work of the APVMA protects the health and safety of people, animals and the environment. The APVMA's activities related to food and fibre production also support Australian agriculture and livestock industries.
The authority has developed a performance framework that links its legislative objectives to the Government’s program reporting framework. The performance framework involves a detailed planning and reporting process incorporating the following:

The Corporate Plan:
- Provides direction for the APVMA's activities over the three year period 2009-12
- Outlines the principal objectives for the period of enhancing our reputation by promoting confidence, communicating our role clearly, and working as a team with national and international government agencies to enhance our capability and efficiency
- Articulates the corporate strategies to deliver the objectives
- Provides a framework for the annual operational plans and is a measure against which to assess our success
